Volleyball Camp

Bridget and Tylinn were in a Volleyball Camp this last week.  Usually the Freshmen aren't in the camp but help with it but for some reason the Freshmen were in it.  Here is Tylinn's age group with their little net.  This girl LOVED it  and got the Most Improved award.

And then there is Bridget.  She has been going to volleyball all summer from practice to open gym.  I think she loves it.  They played to 15.  One game Bridget started out serving and served every point to 14.  Finally they pulled her aside and asked her to miss the next serve so the other team could have a chance!
Each age did a little cheer. I couldn't understand Tylinns and it was way in the back but she showed it to me at home.  It was really cute.  Bridget's group came up with "We are the Freshmen" to the tune of "We are the Champions".  It was really cute!
All the McLaws' at the camp.
 Two cute sisters!
 Love them!

1st Day of School 2013

Well these pictures pretty much says it all!

This year I have had mixed feelings though because I went back to school with my kids this year.  Not to school but to the school for work.  I have enjoyed it and figured I would but the hardest part is not being home for lunch when Bridget, Dustin and Bruce come home for lunch!  I do enjoy what I do and love being able to spend a lot of time with Kaylee at school.  The kids will have a great year!!

Rhett's 12!!

Well our little Rhett Man turned 12 last Friday!  It is hard to imagine he is really 12!  He was excited to open his presents.

Showing off his new knife Dustin picked out for him.  I guess a boy can never have too many knives!  He also got a camping air pad, a sling shot, that survival bracelet you can see in the picture and a cool water bottle.
I really wanted to take Rhett to the temple to do baptisms before the weekend was over because school was going to start and I didn't know when we would get him there. We got it arranged with the bishop to get a recommend.  The bishop reminded us that boys have to have the priesthood in order to do baptisms. Our bishop was out of town for the week on vacation but he got the OK from the stake that on his birthday Bruce could ordain him because he is in the bishopric.  So Friday afternoon we headed to Reed and Shavan's house (they were keeping Tylinn and Kaylee while we were at the temple).  Grandma and Grandpa Flake met us there.  Bruce ordained Rhett then we went to the temple.  I forgot how fun it was to be with your kids the first time.  One thing I love about Rhett is he gets excited about this and shows his excitement (unlike his brother and dad!)  So I was really fun to take him to the temple.

Afterwards he wanted Trappers for dinner so we enjoyed a yummy hamburger and pie after the temple.
Rhett has loved yummy birthday cakes for a long time.  The little girls just want something that looks cute but Rhett wants something yummy  - so this year he decided he wanted Cheesecake.  This kid loves cheesecake.  I really like cheesecake but Rhett loves it.  So here he is with his cheesecake.

Everybody loves Rhett - not sure what it is about him but he's just a special kid.  Little kids especially love him.  Little neighbor Brett (5 yrs old) asked Rhett if he was having a party.  Rhett told him maybe and he asked if he did if he could come.  Rhett Man we love you!!!

Town Races

We made it to the races at the Main Street church again.  Kaylee checking out her competition.

Winner is Kaylee!  She got a $.50 piece for winning.
 Tylinn ready to go.
Not the winner but got a piece of candy for running!
I didn't take the camera to the parade.  It ended up pouring rain at the end so everybody was huddled under the trees trying to stay dry. The afternoon was football games in G & G's back yard with Clar and the boys.  That night we were going to go to the Rodeo.  Bruce left with the boys to save seats.  The girls and I were going to come right before it started.  Well it poured all night so the girls and I headed for home and they boys got soaked watching the rodeo.

Flake Reunion 2013

We made it to the celebration weekend for another year.  Friday we have our huge Flake reunion which started out with the races.  Kaitlyn and Kaylee ready to race.

They were a little confusing on the ages so Kaylee ended up running by herself!
 Tylinn taking off...
 At it with a smile!
Now Rhett man's turn.  Porter is right next to him.
Rhett and Porter after their race.
They did the boot race where all the kids take off their shoes or boots and put them in a pile at the end of the arena.  You have to run down and find your shoes/boots and put them on and run back.  And the winner is...........................
 Yep Rhett Man!
After the races is the rodeo.  The Flakes actually put on a pretty good rodeo.  Tylinn enjoying it.
 Spectators
These boys were over at the steer riding place trying to get up the courage to ride a steer.  Well Taylor ended up doing it.  Dustin didn't want to get hurt for football :)
This year Reed had been working on roping.  We had quite a few family members that did stuff so that made it a lot of fun to watch.  Reed and Will did the Businessman something race.  Reed roped and Will was supposed to tie the steer up.  Well Reed missed so that was the end.
 The money calf.

Kaylee coming back empty handed.

Next was the Stick Horse Keg Race.  Rhett and Taylor taking off.
The next heat Dustin was in.  He was looking for Porter but couldn't find him so he grabbed Taylor again.  Taylor was pretty beat.  They did good though.
Holli, Trevor, Reed and Layton waiting for the little kids money calf.
Bridget and Melissa taking their turn at the Keg Race.

Tylinn and Michael ready to do the ribbon roping.  Bruce had to work so Michael was going to mug for Tylinn.
 There goes Reed.
He caught it and lost the rope as he was dallying (sp?).  So it was a no time for Tylinn.  Just for the record  - Reed roped a couple more times and caught them so he did good!

Cooking Club

The little Horn girls started a cooking club.  They had their turn at their house then our turn was the next week.  It was a crazy week so we just made cupcakes and they decorated them.  Lily, Emily, Tyinn, Kaylee and Megan.

They were being crazy eating veggie straws.  Webers had it at their house the week after this.  They have loved it.  Our only regret is that we didn't start at the beginning of the summer so they could have done it more times!
 Lovely pic of Bridget!!:)
