Updated Addition

As I am getting ready to end my blog book for the year I want to do a final update on our addition.  I wish it was that we were moved in but it isn't.  It hasn't gone as fast as we had hoped - shocker I know but it has been moving along pretty good.  Bruce has worked his tail off through all of this.
Two little helper sitting on the window of one of the back dormers.

Bruce getting the trim painted before they started the siding.

Dustin and Rhett were good helpers with the roof.  Lonnie and a couple of guys came for a couple of the days to help.  If nothing else good comes out of this the boys learned how to roof.  Rhett cut and Dustin nailed them down.

Thanksgiving day David and his boys came to help.  We had dinner at Scott's house.  Jordan came over to help also.  They got a good part of the roof finished.
Then worked on framing in the part of our existing house by the front door.
Dustin getting the spot for the window.
This girl has been a trooper through all of this.  Loving most of it with the boys.
It was a happy day when we got the electrical done by Lonnie and Carston and when Bruce and Kenny got the plumbing done.  It seemed these drug on for a while but finally got them finished so we could get it insulated.  We had US Insulation come do it but Bruce and Dustin insulated mine and Bruce's bedroom wall.  (I think they brought a mouse home in the insulation from the Home Center when they got that insulation - one night Kaylee and Rhett saw one run from addition into the house - a few days later we smelled dead mouse in the house and found one shocked to death on the back of the oven - YUCK!)  We have too many cats to have any mice that is why I think it was in the insulation they just bought.

I guess I didn't get any pictures of it getting sheet rocked.  We planned on having a bunch of people come help but right before Christmas isn't the time to be asking for help and my brothers that would have come two of them were moving and my dad had surgery on his eyes so he couldn't do anything either. We didn't know how Bruce, Dustin and I were going to get those 12 ft sheets up so we just hired some guys.  Three Indians that liked to laugh at us came to do it.  They were fast but not our favorite workers at all.  We were glad when they were done and gone.  All the kids have had lots of fun playing on these in there.  Great spot of cement.
Bruce is not trying to get the taping done.  We were going to hire it out too to hurry and get it done but by the time the guy could start we figured Bruce could have a really good start on it.
Dustin learned how to tape.  He wasn't too shabby at it either.  Rhett cut all the tape for Dustin and Bruce.  They made a pretty good fast team together.
This is the stage we are at right now.  Most of it is taped, still needs coated and sanded and textured.
So still lots to do but we have come a long ways.  Bruce and Reece are out right now putting the garage door on.  That will be way nice to help keep the cold out.  It will be really exciting just having a garage.  We are very blessed!

Corral

We went to Snowflake after Christmas for a few days. Bruce stayed here to work at the PO and to work on our house.  While we were there Uncle Shawn took boys out shooting.  Grandpa also had the project to get a corral built on the range.  Friday morning this crew headed out to get it built.  It didn't even take too long.  We were blessed with beautiful weather during this Christmas Break!

Picture with Santa

I should have had this with an earlier post but didn't get it in there.  The kids with Santa at the Christmas Party at Salvation Army.

Christmas Day

Christmas Day is the best day ever - I don't know of any other day of the year you get to reflect on the Savior and spend the whole day with your family not doing much at all!    This year we told them they could wake us up at 5:30 after they had the chores outside done and a fire built.  Yes we are getting lazy and I think this is the latest we have ever started Christmas!
Kids ready to see what Santa brought.

Stocking have some cool things in them.  Especially flashlights!

Tylinn and Kaylee excited about their new Kindles.  They were shocked because they didn't even ask for them.
Tylinn got a pink bb gun!  One excited little girl!
Santa brought the boys each a Rugar 10/22.  They were pretty excited about this!
Grandma McLaws made each of the kids a quilt.  She has made our family many but this year was especially special for each kid to have their own.  It brought tears to my eyes to read each corner of the kids blanket that had their name, made by Colleen McLaws, the name of the quilt and the date.  This was a pretty special present.

There was some of this Christmas morning....
and some of this Christmas morning....
and have to have the trip out to try out all the guns.  It was a nice day but there was a breeze that made it pretty chilly out.

 Now that is just precious.
About 9:00 I laid down for a nap and about 10 we all watched a movie we got for Christmas. Life doesn't get much better then that!
Grandma and Grandpa Flake came for a visit and lunch.  It was fun for them to come for a couple of hours.  I love Christmas but thank heavens it is 365 days away! :)

Christmas Eve

We had a good Christmas Eve - I guess we have never had a bad one!  We had our traditional Mexican Food Dinner.

After dinner Scott and family came over for some songs and nativity program.  Here is Mary and Joseph.  Mary is great with child!
 Shepherd and donkey.
 Our beautiful star -
The nativity.  The kids did pretty good considering they went in the bedroom and came out 5 minutes later ready to go.
Scott gave us Auto Body sweatshirts -
 Kids opening their PJ's.
PJ picture in front of the tree.  This was actually taken Christmas day because I forgot to take one Christmas Eve.
Kaylee had a loose tooth again this Christmas Eve.  She was determined that it was coming out so Santa Clause and The Tooth Fairy could both be in our house again Christmas Eve.  This girl is getting good with loosing teeth Christmas Eve.
The saddest party of Christmas Eve is saying goodbye to Zippy - our Elf on the Shelf.  We grow pretty close to this little Elf the month he is in our home.  It is always a race to jump out of bed and see who the first to find Zippy is.  It has been a very good motivator to get kids out of bed.  Well Christmas Eve he jumps in Santa's Sleigh and goes back to the North Pole with him.  Tylinn and Kaylee were almost in tears telling him goodbye!

Christmas Sunday

One of my favorite things about Christmas time is the Sunday before Christmas.  I love our Ward's Christmas Program that usually is mostly music and usually lots of special numbers to where all the kids get to participate in Primary, YW, and YM. Bruce, Bridget and I all sang in the Choir, Bridget and I in YW, the boys in YM, the little girls n Primary and Bridget and Ashley sang a duet. Another thing I love about it is kids getting all dressed up in their Christmas Sunday Best for church!
Here are the kids this year.

Here they are together in the perfect world....
Here is how it really is at this house around Christmas time!  But life is great!
