Softball

It is softball time again.  This year has been great.  I am not coaching and Tylinn and Kaylee are both on Minors and on the same team.  Kaylee has had been good at adjusting to it.  A lot of kids her age are in T-ball again but she had done 2 years of it and we were finished with T-ball.  She has hit the ball a couple of times but her words after the first few practices they had were "mom I just stink".  She loves it though
Kaylee taking a good swing.
Tylinn had lots of fun playing 1st base.
Kaylee did a lot of this in Right Field.
Tylinn up to bat.  She is doing pretty good. Next year she will be one of the oldest on the team.
This last game the coach put her at pitcher.  Unless a ball came right to her she didn't move.  People laughed in the stands that "Kaylee is just glad to be here" and that is what it boiled down to.

Hair Cut

Tylinn decided a while back that she didn't want bangs anymore - well as anyone knows it is not fun growing bangs out.  I have been telling her that when school was out we were chopping her hair to get her bangs more blended in.  So on Tuesday we did that.  She ended up getting 8 inches cut off so she could donate it to Locks of Love.  I don't have an after picture.

Crawdad Fishing

Memorial Day came and the wind had died down.  It was beautiful overcast weather.  We decided to go to Patrick's Pond and go Crawdad Fishing.  We packed a lunch and went.  Here are pictures from the day. Sunday we went to Snowflake for dinner and Bridget and Dustin stayed there so they could do baptisms for the dead Monday morning.  Kelli and Ben brought them back on their way through which was later in the afternoon so they missed the fishing.

We love this place.  It is close and pretty and surprisingly this day even quiet.

Curlers

We were supposed to go camping Memorial Day weekend but due to the lovely wind we didn't.  Holli and her kids came to our house and we had a fun weekend.  Saturday night the girls wanted curlers in their hair.

 All ready for church!

8th Grade Promotion

Friday night was an exciting night/evening for Bridget.  It was her 8th Grade Promotion.  All ready to go.....

Her and Olivia sang that National Anthem at the beginning and they sounded great!
Bridget getting up to receive her Faculty Award!  We were way excited about this.  The orchestra played which included Dustin.
Her with her certificate.  There were 3 girls that tied for Valedictorian  - Bridget was one of them and was so excited!  She got the medal that is around her neck.

 Grandma and Grandpa Flake
 Grandma and Grandpa McLaws
Whipple, Ashley, Hunter, Mean Sienna, Bridget and Olivia
 Sienna and Bridget
 Bridget and Megan
Bridget and Jessica - the 2 twins that are 5 years apart and from different Mothers!
These 2 had tons of fun together in Jr. High.  That is one sad thing about Bridget moving on.  They were both in Student Council and got to work together lots!  They will miss each other.  They are still going to be at the same school but it is 2 totally different lives - different classes, teachers, lunch times etc.  They got to be good friends.
We love these 3 boys - Jordan, Noah and Barr.  They are such good friends to Bridget.  It doesn't matter what they are doing if they are together they are having fun. I am thankful for some good boys for these girls to pal around with.
Bridget and Barr both got the Faculty award.  Kind of interesting because Barr was the 8th Grade President and Bridget was Vice Pres.
 Bridget and Jordan

Torin, Bridget & Megan - the 3 Valedictorians
 Bridget, Whipple, Sienna
Torin, Ben, Barr, Jordan, Noah, Bridget, Whipple, Sienna
The 5 McLaws' in Jr. High.
 Bridget and Noah
 Bridget and Kessiah
After Graduation we had family over for dinner.  Had to get a picture of these 3 boys in their wrestling shirts.
Lon and Toni had a party at their house for the 8th graders.  I told them Bruce and I would help so we went to help man kids!  After that party it just made me so glad I am not in Jr. High again!!
Bridget is such a good girl.  I am so thankful to have her as my daughter and an example to the other 4 kids.  She always does what is right and makes being a parent of a teenager job a lot easier!

Last Day of School

I like taking pictures of my kids on their last day of school with their expression of "Schools OUT!"
So here is Kaylee's thoughts about leaving Mrs. Honsinger - bawling!

Bridget had a few.  She isn't too sure about High School coming and loved Jr. High.  She is sad to leave all her little 7th grade friends.

Rhett is fine with whatever.  He is going from 1 Maner class to the next Maner class!
Tylinn is sad because she is leaving Mountin Meadows - but on the other hand she is excited to be going to Capps.
And then there is Dustin.....big bad going to be 8th grader Dustin - thrilled!

Lucky Rhett Man

Rhett got an award at the end of the year for reading over 1 million words this year.  It was a gift certificate to DQ.

He was also lucky enough to have gotten drawn for a Golden Mustang Award which was a $50 gift card to Barnes and Nobel.  He was a happy boy!
